Philanthropy

Commitment to Delta Zeta's national philanthropy is upheld through the support of national and local projects designated for speech and hearing help. Included are Gallaudet University, the House Ear Institute and the Better Hearing Institute. Supporting our philanthropy is not only part of our sorority's foundation, it is also extremely fufilling emotionally.

The Iota Psi Chapter at UTA has adopted the Deaf Education Programs at Miller Elementary School and Little Elementary School of Arlington. Every year, Iota Psi members visit the children. Hearing-impaired children learn through "experiences", much like fieldtrips and other activites. Iota Psi plans activities throughout the year for the children. The pictures on this page are from a trip to Six Flags. The Iota Psi raised money to take 32 children, teachers, and chapter members to Six Flags for the day.

Iota Psi fully supports the Delta Zeta national philanthropy of aid to the speech and hearing impaired. Every fall we join forces with our alumnae chapter to hold Strikenight, our bowling tournament to raise money to donate to our adopted elementary schools and our National Foundation. During Rush, our chapter has established a "Philanthropy Day" on which chapter members along with rushees make items for the hearing-impaired. Then after bid day, our chapter takes the actives and new members to the school to donate the items. This helps introduce our new members to the value of community service.
